Expert SEND Tutor And Advocate For Every Child

My Journey as a SENDCo and Educator

For many tutors, teaching is just a job.

For me, it’s a passion that began when I worked with children, including those with special needs, at a nursery school overseas. That experience set me on a life-changing path, leading me to train as a teacher and later specialise as a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) in the UK.

In 2006, I began my teaching career at a UK primary school, determined to help every child achieve their potential. Later, when parents became concerned about school safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, I saw an opportunity to create a safe, effective alternative—This Child Can. By offering online tutoring, SEND tutoring, and a dedicated family support service, I could reach children in the comfort and safety of their own homes.

A Tutoring Service for Every Child’s Needs

This Child Can was never intended to be just another tutoring service. I wanted to provide specialist 1-to-1 support for children facing learning difficulties, anxiety, or confidence issues—areas many tutors aren’t equipped to handle. My qualifications as a teacher and SENDCo allow me to deliver personalised primary tutoring and specialist SEND tutoring, tailored to each child’s needs.

“I love those ‘eureka’ moments when a child grasps a concept for the first time. Enlightenment is the key to self-belief, which motivates us to keep going!”

Families are often the unsung heroes in this journey, but they may not know where to turn for help. That’s why I offer a SEND family support service, ensuring parents and carers get the right guidance for their child.

If you’re looking for online tutoring or SEND tutoring that truly supports your child, I’d love to help. Get in touch to learn more about how This Child Can can support your family.

My Experience

I have three years’ experience teaching the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in Mauritius.

I subsequently taught for 16 years in UK schools at Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 level, including almost four years as a SENDCo, supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.

In 2020, I founded This Child Can and I now tutor pupils with and without SEND, as well as helping families to navigate their SEND journeys.

What I Teach

I teach the British curriculum, with expertise in many subject areas and methods, including:
