One-to-One SEND Tuition:
Expert Support That Makes The Difference
SEND stands for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and describes children and young people who have a learning difficulty or disability that makes it harder for them to learn than other pupils of the same age.
Unlike most tutors, we offer an experienced, UK-qualified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) who can work with your child’s unique needs, whether academic, social, physical or emotional.

Frequently Asked
Questions
Do I need to provide any equipment?
To communicate with your tutor, your child will need access to a computer with a reliable internet connection and a webcam (camera). A headset or headphones can be useful to block out distractions and you may wish to print any learning resources we send you so that your child has them to hand.
Can I accompany my child during their tuition?
We have no objection to you sitting alongside your child, especially if they are nervous during the first session. We do, however, politely ask that you observe rather than play an active part in the session as this can be distracting for your child.
Is online tuition safe?
With us, yes! While some tutors use technology as a second thought and don’t fully understand it, our business is built around the latest secure video and storage technologies. Our tuition uses industry-strength encryption, meaning no-one can snoop on your child or gain access to them.
What special needs and disabilities can you help with?
We tutor children with mild-to-moderate levels of need in the areas of:
- Cognition and Learning
including Specific Learning Difficulties (SPLD) and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) - Communication and Interaction
including difficulties with speech, language and communication such as Asperger’s and Autism - Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self-harm, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) - Sensory and Physical Needs
including Visual Impairment (VI), Hearing Impairment (HI) and Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI).
What does a typical course of tuition look like?
- Session 1: We get to know your child and assess their needs and level of understanding, enabling us to construct your child’s unique ‘learning journey.’
- Session 2: We rehearse topics your child is familiar with to build confidence, while adding new concepts where appropriate.
- Session 3 onward: We support your child as they continue their learning journey, adapting the pace, method and content to suit your child’s learning style.
- Final session: We reflect with you and your child on what they’ve achieved, with advice and support on areas your child persistently finds difficult.
What are the benefits of your report-writing service?
For an additional charge, we can follow up your child’s course of tuition with a detailed account of their progress, strengths, areas of need and advice.
As well as giving you valuable insight into how best to support your child after we part company, the report is also a useful record that you can pass onto your child’s school, support agencies or other professionals, ensuring that they understand your child’s needs and can offer them an appropriate level of support.
Is my child’s data safe?
Yes. Data protection and security are at the heart of our service, which is fully compliant with the Data Protection Act (2018) – the UK version of the European data protection law known as the GDPR. All personal data is used in accordance with our Privacy Notice.
How many sessions of tuition does my child need?
It depends on your and your child’s needs, which we determine during our initial assessment. Children typically grasp a concept within a few sessions, with a couple more needed to practise and embed the idea. We also provide intensive revision sessions, as well as long-term tuition to help maintain your child’s confidence.
Do you set homework between sessions?
To develop independent learning, it’s helpful to practise between sessions. If you wish, we can therefore set homework for your child to complete in their own time. We will then go through it together during our next session.
For an additional charge, we can also mark and comment on your child’s homework between sessions, giving you a valuable record of your child’s progress and enabling your child to make the most of their next session.
